Chamber: Focus remains on shopping local during tariff uncertainty

Seek out local business owners and ask them directly how you can help them as they deal with the ongoing tariffs and trade uncertainty.

North Grenville Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Terri-Lyn McEvoy says that’s the best way to help local businesses impacted by the tariffs imposed by U.S. President Donald Trump.

McEvoy says the businesses are feeling the pressure amid the uncertainty of what will come next as they try to forecast their spending and budgeting and what that will look like.

She says it’s important to remember that those who own businesses in our community are our friends and neighbors.

“Whether the store is ordering parts from the U.S., they’re still employing locals, they’re still employing Canadians, and they’re still trying to source out as many Canadian made products as they can.”

McEvoy adds that chambers across the province are talking frequently about how best to support their members.
