The MP for Leeds-Grenville-Thousand Islands and Rideau Lakes says incoming Prime Minister Mark Carney is just like Justin Trudeau.
Carney overwhelmingly won the Liberal leadership race this past weekend replacing the outgoing Trudeau and will be sworn in as Prime Minister in the coming days.
Conservative Michael Barrett says Carney is someone who enthusiastically praised Trudeau for transforming Canada into a country where food bank use is at record highs, home prices have doubled and where crime rages in the streets.
Carney says he will drop the consumer carbon tax but Barrett tells Moose FM that he doesn’t take him at face value.
“Though he’s singing a different tune about things like the carbon tax now, we know that he’s also said that he would impose what he calls a shadow carbon tax which would raise the price on all kinds of things that would be passed on to consumers.”
It’s anticipated that a federal election will be called in the near future, once Carney takes over as Prime Minister.
