Warmer temperatures expected in the weeks to come

It appears that the dark days of winter could be behind us.

Environment Canada is calling for warmer than normal daytime highs this week, including 17 degrees and sunny on Friday, and it’s believed to be the beginning of a trend for the next weeks.

Emergency Preparedness Meteorologist Geoff Coulson tells Moose FM that we will still see the odd cool day, including a high of zero on Wednesday, but that wont stick around for long.

Coulson says it’s important to listen to the advice of local conservation authorities on what impact the rising temperatures will have.

“They would have the best idea of the impacts of the melting of the snowpack, what the warmer temperatures may mean for the breakup of ice on local rivers and waterways.”

Coulson adds that the average daytime high for this time of the year is two degrees.
