North Grenville is planning to paint the town red in awareness of heart disease in women.
At their meeting on Tuesday night, North Grenville Council voted in support of a request from the Canadian Women’s Heat Health Alliance to proclaim Feb. 13Â “Wear Red Day.”
The alliance is an organization of volunteer health professionals and patients working to improve women’s heart health.
They say that heart disease is the number one killer of women worldwide and the leading cause of premature death for Canadian women, a fact, they add, that is unknown to many women and their healthcare providers.
The alliance says Wear Red Canada Day is celebrated on an annual basis to raise awareness for all Canadians, but especially Canadian women, to be mindful, curious, and proactive in the management of their heart health and wellness.
Residents and businesses are invited to decorate in red to mark the day.
