Prescott’s Mayor was in attendance at this week’s Rural Ontario Municipal Association conference.
Gauri Shankar says he attended the event in Toronto and went to several meetings as part of a group representing Augusta Township.
Among the ministers they met with was Minister of Education Jill Dunlop with whom they discussed an application from the Upper Canada District School Board to build a new school in Augusta Township.
They also met with Minister of Infrastructure Kinga Surma on an ongoing funding application for increased water and waste water capacity to help build as many as 3,000 new homes in Augusta Township.
Shankar says it’s important to be a part of the meetings that take place.
“It’s good to sit down with the ministers, I’m truly impressed with each minister and how well prepared they are, the questions they ask, the follow-ups.”
Shankar adds there were a lot of great speakers at the conference as well, including Ontario Premier Doug Ford.
