Update: UCDSB provides more details on “cyber attack” that has impacted area schools

Our local school board says their priority is on restoring services as they deal with a second week of disruptions because of what they call a “cyber attack”.

In an update on their website, Upper Canada District School Board officials say that there have been reports that an education industry software provider called PowerSchool had a cybersecurity breach. They add that PowerSchool has confirmed that our board is not impacted.

Officials say that they are investigating any possible theft of information and they continue to work with cybersecurity experts to assess the full impact of this incident.

As more information becomes available, they say they will provide updates.

However, they say that there is no evidence to suggest that payments made using the impacted systems have been compromised.

School officials ask that you continue to call your school if your child is going to be away.

They say that they cannot provide an exact timeline of how long the network disruption will last and add that the process is ongoing.
