Local connections dot the rosters of several of the teams taking part in the 2025 World Junior Hockey Championship in Ottawa.

On Team USA, nineteen-year-old forward Carey Terrance, now the Captain of the Erie Otters of the Ontario Hockey League, was a member of the Kemptville 73’s Under 18 AAA program in 2020-2021.

Team Canada defenceman Oliver Bonk, son of former Ottawa Senators player Radek Bonk, was born in Ottawa and played his youth hockey with the Ottawa Myers Automotive program.

Bonk, now with the London Knights of the OHL, tells Moose FM that he is excited to playing on a huge stage at home.

“It is a huge opportunity, not many kids get to play in the World Juniors in the town they grew up in and all the minor hockey teams that you played for growing up are here watching, it is special.”
