Winter expected to bring more of a punch this year compared to last

“Winter is going to try to redeem its reputation this year.”

That’s according to Doug Gillham, Meteorologist at The Weather Network, who says last year, winter barely showed up and embarrassed itself by being the mildest on record.

He says while we might not see much snow accumulate, the next few weeks will be colder than normal to welcome in December.

Gillham says the western part of Canada will be hit harder with snow but the impact will still be felt here.

“That’s going to mean more of a come-and-go winter for Ontario and Quebec, we don’t think it’s going to be an exceptional winter it’s just that, compared to last year, this will be more of a typical winter.”

While it’s still too early to say for sure, Gillham says the chances are better this year for a white Christmas than last year when it was green.
