North Grenville looking at adding second bus for NG Transit

Higher than expected ridership levels has North Grenville Council looking at expanding its municipal public transit system.

While the 2022 Transit Feasibility Study indicated that the on-demand NG Transit would see an average daily ridership of 29 by the end of its first year, that number was met in June.

Numbers are expected to continue to rise, putting more demand on the system, and council is looking at options that were presented by a consultant including adding a second bus.

North Grenville Deputy Mayor John Barclay says the service has proven to be invaluable to those who need it.

“Now, we’ve got people who’s jobs depend on being able to use that transit system, we can’t go backwards we’ve got to go forward and continue to try to  in order to meet the demand.”

Barclay adds the idea will be brought up as part of the 2025 municipal budget process.
