With Halloween just a few days away, police are reminding you that safety isn’t spooky.
When kids go out trick or treating on Thursday night, Grenville County OPP Const. Dave Holmes says drivers need to be extra attentive.
He says the ghosts and goblins will be excited and that could result in them getting distracted and not keeping their eyes on the road.
Holmes says parents should inspect the candy that’s brought home, also allowing for an important lesson to be taught on taxes.
“I found the best way to explain it is to have them come back with their bag of candy and I will take a portion of it, and it’s funny that last year my oldest son said “but I’m the one that went out and did all the work” and I said “yes son, but there are taxes.”
Holmes adds that makeup and not masks should be used for costumes so that the trick or treaters always have an unobstructed view.
