Slow down in school zones if you’re behind the wheel.
With school now back in session, North Grenville Mayor Nancy Peckford says there are a lot of kids who are biking or walking to class.
She says there are also a number of students who just got their driving license and they may be adjusting to the roads.
That’s why, Peckford says, it’s vital to pay attention at all times while in school zones.
“You should always expect a pedestrian to potentially pop out of somewhere that you didn’t actually anticipate, they may not be using all the designated cross walks, so vigilance is really key.”
Peckford adds they are also hearing reports of vehicles not stopping for school buses.
Failure to stop for a school bus in Ontario can result in fines and increased car insurance, depending on the infraction.
