Kemptville 73’s open up the 2024-25 regular season this weekend

It’s finally go time for the Kemptville 73’s.

After winning their last preseason game 3-2 in a shootout over the Ottawa Junior Senators, the hockey club is traveling to Cornwall this weekend for the Central Canada Hockey League Thanksgiving Showcase.

Kemptville opens up on Saturday afternoon against the Pembroke Lumber Kings and they then play the Rockland Nationals on Sunday afternoon.

Their first home game, of their 55 game regular season schedule, will be on Friday, Sept.20 when the Nepean Raiders visit.

Kemptville Head Coach Shawn Fensel says speed is a good word to describe the makeup of this season’s team.

“We’re trying to be a team that’s playing very fast on the breakouts, through the neutral zone, coming through with support on one side of the ice.”

The 73’s will be aiming to make the playoffs this season, after falling short by a single point each of the last two campaigns.
