Former Reeve, Deputy Reeve and Councilor Jean Hamlyn remembered

A former area Reeve, Deputy Reeve and Councilor is being honoured.

The Municipality of North Grenville says in a statement that upon moving to Oxford-on-Rideau Jean Hamlyn served on council with dedication and distinction.

She passed away on August 30 at the age of 85.

In each of her roles, the statement says Hamlyn was a tireless advocate for her community, demonstrating strong leadership and a deep commitment to improving the lives of residents across Oxford-on-Rideau and the United Counties of Leeds and Grenville.

Her contributions during her tenure on council had a lasting impact on local governance, shaping the community for years to come.

Hamlyn’s vibrant personality, marked by wit and humor, endeared her to all who knew her.

She will be fondly remembered for her service, her unwavering dedication to her community, and the warmth she brought to her many roles.

As a tribute to her legacy, flags at the Municipal Centre will be lowered to half-mast.
