Rideau Carleton Raceway has been given a lifeline from the province’s agriculture ministry, with a cash infusion of just over $26 million over five years. Premier Kathleen Wynne’s government is boosting the province’s horse racing industry with an additional $100 million over five years. Rideau Carleton will see $5.25 million per year. Nepean Carleton MPP Lisa MacLeod said earlier this month the deal is too little too late. She says the government is attempting to put the horse racing industry on life support after destroying the original profitable revenue-sharing arrangement.
