Frankville Man Rescued on Rideau River Ice

A Frankville man is lucky the river hasn’t melted yet, as he wandered out onto the ice Saturday. Early on March 29th, police were called to the Rideau River near Sheila’s Way in North Grenville. They could hear a man calling for help from what appeared to be the centre of the frozen river. Officers could communicate with the man but they couldn’t see him due to the darkness and they weren’t sure if he was in or out of the freezing water. Constables Peloso, Peacock and Pryor dragged a boat halfway across the frozen Rideau where they found an intoxicated man standing on the ice. The 34-year-old was loaded into the boat, brought to shore and charged with being drunk in a public place. He spent the night at the Kemptville detachment.
