Over 2,400 charges laid by East Region OPP in Canada Day initiative

Ontario Provincial Police in our area laid over 2,400 charges during their Canada Day initiative.

Running from June 21 to Canada Day, East Region OPP say there was 1,309 drivers charged for speeding and 87 for impaired driving.

On the water, police laid 32 charges for not wearing a proper life jacket while 11 drivers of off road vehicles were charged with helmet offences.

Police note these initial results may increase as additional reports are added.
