Leeds Grenville MPP Steve Clark says government regulations are jeopardizing the future of service clubs across Ontario. Part of the problem is red tape and rules making it difficult to recruit new members or hold fundraisers. Another challenge is increasing taxes and fees the clubs are forced to pay. On Thursday, February 19, MPPs from all parties unanimously passed Ontario PC Interim Leader Jim Wilson’s resolution calling on the government to create a special committee to investigate the regulatory hurdles facing service clubs in the province.
