A new CT Scanner on the way for the Kemptville District Hospital is being called a game changer.
The official groundbreaking for the hospital’s new imaging machine was held on Monday afternoon with officials including Leeds-Grenville-Thousand Islands and Rideau Lakes MPP Steve Clark on hand.
KDH Foundation Executive Director Joanne Mavis says the scanner is vital because you need it to treat anyone who comes into the emergency department.
She adds it wasn’t sustainable to remain a hospital without one and she says they have raised $1.6 million, with a total goal of $2.2 million, over the last year-and-a-half.
Mavis says ninety per cent of the funds raised have come from individuals making donations and she says opening day for the CT Scanner is coming quickly.
“It should be ready for it’s first patient by the end of December, so the timeline for me to get the rest of the money in the door is like October because that’s when we have to pay the final bill.”
The Municipality of North Grenville and the United Counties of Leeds and Grenville provided a combined $1.8 million for the CT Scanner.
