Volunteers being sought to help raise guide dogs

Can you open your life up for a puppy being raised to one day help a blind person through life?

Canadian Guide Dogs for the Blind, a national, charitable organization, is searching for volunteers to take part in their puppy fostering programs in the area.

All of the organization’s guide dogs are raised in homes until they are ready to go into formal training, with supervision and assistance provided along the way.

The puppies are brought to obedience class and trained in different areas to ensure they have the social skills needed to assist.

Stacey Brickman, Puppy Walking Coordinator with the organization, says it’s imperative that volunteers take the puppies with them wherever they go.

“If do go to work then you’d need to get an agreement with your workplace that says that you can bring them with you, we have some that go to schools.”

You can learn more about the program on the Canadian Guide Dogs for the Blind website.
