Breaking: MPP Steve Clark appointed Government House Leader in cabinet shuffle

Ontario Premier Doug Ford has shuffled his cabinet and our local MPP has landed a key spot.

Leeds-Grenville-Thousand Islands and Rideau Lakes MPP Steve Clark has been appointed Government House Leader in one of many changes announced late Thursday afternoon.

It comes after Clark resigned as Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing during the Greenbelt scandal, a position he had held from 2018 to 2023.

He tells the Moose FM Newsroom that just because there are changes doesn’t mean there will be an early election.

“It’s not uncommon for a government to do a cabinet shuffle at the halfway point, as Government House Leader my job is pretty simple, I have to make sure that the government’s legislative agenda gets through.”

Clark was first elected to Parliament in a byelection in 2010.

Ford also confirmed that the legislature will not be back in session until October 21.
