About 275 students from both the Upper Canada and Catholic District school boards are at St. Lawrence College in Cornwall today competing in a variety of trades events including: Home Building, Cabinet Making, Carpentry, Auto Service Technician, Esthetics, Hairstyling, Aviation, Photography, Welding, and Small Engine Repair. The day is the first in a series of events connected with the Skills Canada trades competitions. Winners in select categories have the opportunity to advance to Skills Canada regional and provincial competitions, and then later to the national event.
