North Dundas Fire Service hosting “rooftop campout” for Muscular Dystrophy

Sean Donovan says the North Dundas Fire Service is expanding its plans to support Muscular Dystrophy Canada this year.

The fire department is preparing for a “rooftop campout” fundraiser this summer, benefitting the charity.

“It’s our charity of choice since the very beginning for [Muscular Dystrophy Canada] back in 1954,” Donovan says. “Firefighters across Canada and across North America have always supported Muscular Dystrophy, and we’re just continuing that tradition.”

The campout is happening from June 1st to 2nd, to coincide with Art on the Waterfront in Chesterville.

Firefighters will be collecting donations for 24 hours, spending the night on the roof of the Scotiabank building.

“This year will be our second [campout],” Donovan adds. “It’s something that we’re going to hope to carry on in years to come.”

He says other future fundraisers for the charity this year include a golf tournament in September, and the annual October boot drive.
