North Grenville considering buying new tractor, backhoe loader for road maintenance

Some outdated equipment for road maintenance could be replaced soon in North Grenville.

Council is set to vote Tuesday on whether to purchase a new backhoe loader and all-season tractor.

The tractor and backhoe the municipality uses right now are from 2008 and 2009. Staff members say that means they’re nearing the end of their normal fifteen-year life expectancy.

The combined cost for the new equipment comes out to $387,547.45 before tax, but the municipality plans to recoup some of that money by selling the older backhoe and tractor.

Council votes on whether to make the purchase at its next meeting.
