Be careful around bodies of water over the weekend.
That’s a message from the Riveau Valley Conservation Authority, which has issued a water safety statement for our area.
According to the statement, warm weather over the next few days could lead to rising water levels across the region.
Staff members say you should exercise “extreme caution” near bodies of water, and make sure your pets are leashed if you walk near them, so they don’t fall in.

They also advise warning your kids of the risks of playing near bodies of water, and to supervise them carefully.
The statement is in effect until next Friday, February 16th.
