North Grenville honours late former Councillor, Town of Kemptville Reeve Ken Finnerty

Mayor Nancy Peckford says North Grenville is mourning the loss of a pillar of the community.

Ken Finnerty, who served as the Reeve for the Town of Kemptville and Warden of the United Counties of Leeds and Grenville before North Grenville was amalgamated, passed away on Sunday, January 14th.

Finnerty, who was 82 years old, also served on North Grenville council for eleven years.

“Though I did not have the honour of working with him personally,” Mayor Peckford says, “many who knew him well have spoken to me of his enormous impact on our community. His legacy continues today.”

Peckford adds that Finnerty was a major player in important decisions like building the North Grenville Municipal Centre and the current North Grenville Public Library building.

Flags have been lowered to half-mast throughout the community in his honour, and a funeral is being held on Friday at the Municipal Centre.
