Three people are facing charges in a robbery investigation in Merrickville.
According to the Grenville County OPP detachment, the incident happened in the afternoon on Saturday, December 16th.
Officers arrived on the scene at around 2:00 PM and were told two people robbed a storeowner on Wellington Street East with knives, before fleeing to a nearby vehicle.
Police say they arrested the suspects on County Road 43 soon after, recovering “a large number of stolen prescription medications” in the process.
All three suspects have been charged with armed robbery, possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and possessing the proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5,000.
Two of the suspects, a 19-year-old from Merrickville and a 23-year-old from South Dundas, are facing additional charges, including two counts of assault with a weapon and one count of firearm possession.
Officers say the investigation is still ongoing and are asking anyone with information on the incident to contact the OPP or send a tip anonymously via Crime Stoppers.
