More money is going towards building the new Dundas Manor long-term care home now that the project is underway.
The Morrisburg and District Lions Club, based out of South Dundas, has donated $21,249 to the project.
Members of the organization say the money was raised through its Catch the Ace lottery, which ended in August, and at its Car Rally fundraiser in October.
Fundraising for the Dundas Manor project is being handled by the Winchester District Memorial Hospital (WDMH) Foundation.
Campaign Coordinator Cindy Ault Peters says Lions Clubs across the region are stepping up to help make the project happen, including the Winchester club, which donated $10,000 in November.
“The lottery and car rally had many winners,” Peters says, “but the real winners are the residents of Dundas Manor. The new home will be a wonderful place for loved ones to live for generations to come.”
The cost to build the new facility is mostly being covered by government funding, but the WDMH foundation is responsible for paying the last $18 million required.
So far, it’s raised more than $12 million. Site prep for the new facility is already underway, with a construction timeline expected soon.
