United Counties increases maximum purchase price for home ownership assistance program

The United Counties has expanded an initiative to help more people become homeowners.

The Counties runs a “Homeownership Program,” providing first-time buyers with an interest-free loan to put towards their down payment.

The loan can provide up to five percent of the total price of the home, and until now, the maximum purchase price you could apply for assistance with was $280,000.

Staff members say that’s been increased to $470,000, to help more people deal with the rising costs of housing.

You can only apply if the home will be your sole residence, and if it’s within the Leeds-Grenville area.

We’ve reached out to United Counties Manager of Social Housing Chris Morrison for an interview to learn more about the program.
