The Ottawa Coalition to End Violence Against Women, Crime Prevention Ottawa, and the Ottawa Police Service asks local men to create a powerful movement by pledging on February 14th to help end violence against women in their community. I can MANifest change is a public awareness campaign. Its goal is to positively engage men and boys in ending violence against women.
Rather than viewing men and boys as perpetrators, I can MANifest change is about empowering them. Men and boys need to see themselves as agents of change who can help put a stop to violence against women through their own actions, from challenging sexist locker room talk to donating to women-led organizations to teaching their sons to treat women as equals. It could be as simple as telling a friend not to tell sexist jokes, or rejecting media that condones gender-based violence. Follow hashtag MANifestChange on Twitter for Valentines ideas.
