Mayor Peckford: new transit service costs $5 per one-way ride or $70 monthly for adults

North Grenville is striving to make its new public transit system as affordable as possible for residents.

Mayor Nancy Peckford spoke with MyKemptvilleNow.com outlining the rates for the new service, which was officially announced last week.

“We’ll be charging $3 a ride for youth in the community,” Peckford says, “and $5 a ride, and I mean per way, to wherever your destination is, for adults.”

Peckford says monthly passes will also be available, costing $70 per month for adults and $42 per month for youths.

The new service will be available on-demand, and Peckford says it’s open to anyone living anywhere in North Grenville.

“This is not just for those living in the town of Kemptville or more urban areas,” she says. “This is a service that will respond to requests for rides from all residents within North Grenville, as long as you live in the Municipality.”

Right now, the Municipality is holding a poll for residents to decide the public transit service’s name. You can see the options and vote by visiting the municipality’s website. The service launches in January.
