More local farmland is set to be protected from developers soon.
The United Counties of Leeds and Grenville is in the last stages of its “Agricultural Area Review,” updating its agricultural land boundaries.
The current boundaries were set after a study in 2015, but staff members say the initial process wasn’t comprehensive.
The proposed new boundaries would see significantly more land in rural areas like North Grenville, Edwardsburgh-Cardinal and Augusta protected, so developers can’t build on it.
The final draft map of the proposed boundaries is on the United Counties website, and staff members are inviting residents and property owners to submit any feedback or concerns they have.
If you want to give your input, staff members say you can call the United Counties office or attend an upcoming in-person meeting.
The date, time and location for that meeting have yet to be announced.
