With Thanksgiving around the corner and the holiday season looming, the Salvation Army’s Esteban Castillo says his team needs new donations to feed local families.
Castillo, a Community and Family Services Director with the charity, says he’d appreciate any donations of fresh produce.
“We don’t get that very much,” Castillo explains. “We’ve got local farmers that donate it from their own crops, which is awesome, but stuff like that is always welcome.”
He also says the organization needs breakfast foods like cereal, pancake mix and coffee, as well as hygiene products to help people that struggle to afford them.
“Who doesn’t want a coffee in the morning? Well, we don’t even have something like that,” he adds. “We’re completely out of it, right now.”
If you want to donate to the food bank, Castillo says you can drop items off any time the Salvation Army Thrift Store in Kemptville is open.
