Volunteers are the heart of the Leeds-Grenville community, and much of what makes our area a great place to live would be impossible without them.
That’s according to MPP Steve Clark, who presented 46 local volunteers with Volunteer Service Awards at a ceremony in Brockville Thursday night.
The awards are presented annually to celebrate people’s years of service working for hospitals, libraries, charities and other local organizations.
“We can never take for granted how selflessly [volunteers] give of their time and talents,” Clark says. “That’s why saying thank you through these Volunteer Service Award ceremonies is so important.”
One Kemptville resident received an award this year: Charity Whelan from the local Girl Guides of Canada branch.
The provincial government is also accepting nominations for next year’s awards on its website. Those nominations close November 15th.
