Local golfers and volunteers helped raise thousands of dollars for Upper Canada District School Board (UCDSB) students at a tournament this summer.
The board has announced the final fundraising total for its 16th annual “Champions for Kids Foundation” golf tournament, which was held in July.
Staff members say it brought in $47,067 for the board’s charity, which will go towards helping kids whose families can’t pay for extracurricular activities.
The foundation was established in 2008 to help more kids take part in things like sports programs and summer camps and pay for things like glasses and EpiPens.
“We are continually inspired by the tremendous outpouring of support, passion, and unity exhibited for [Champions for Kids],” explains Foundation President Casey Nelson. “With the unwavering commitment of sponsors, golfers, volunteers, and donations, we can extend financial assistance to UCDSB children and their families.”
To date, it’s raised over $2-million. Staff members are thanking everyone who contributed to this year’s tournament for helping make it a success.
