Kemptville Terry Fox Run scheduled for this weekend, council raising flag Wednesday

North Grenville residents will be able to walk, bike or run through the Ferguson Forest Centre to raise money for cancer research this weekend.

This year’s Terry Fox Run is scheduled for Sunday, September 17th.

The annual fundraiser is held across the country to commemorate the legacy of Terry Fox, who ran from St. Johns to Thunder Bay to raise money for cancer research in 1980.

Fox planned to run all the way to Victoria, British Columbia, but was forced to stop after cancer was found in his lungs.

Participants will be able to register individually or as part of a team, with two, five, and ten-kilometre running routes available. All the routes start and end at the St. Michael Catholic High School track.

Registration opens at 9:00 in the morning on Sunday, with the run set to begin one hour later.

North Grenville council will be raising a flag outside the Municipal Centre to celebrate the event. If you want to attend the flag raising, it’s scheduled for 5:00 PM Wednesday.
