2022 ParticipACTION prize money going towards North Grenville’s Recreation Lending Library

The money North Grenville received for being named “Ontario’s Most Active Community” is going towards helping put new sports gear in residents’ hands.

Ahead of the 2023 ParticipACTION “Canada’s Most Active Community” contest, the municipality has announced that the $7,500 from last year is being put towards North Grenville’s “Recreation Lending Library.”

The program allows residents who don’t own their own equipment for sports like pickleball and tennis, as well as outdoor activities like snowshoeing, to borrow gear owned by the Municipality for free.

Additionally, some of the money will go towards buying new skates and helmets for people to borrow at the North Grenville Municipal Centre’s arena.

North Grenville earned the funding by logging more minutes of exercise last June than any other community in all of Ontario.

This year’s ParticipACTION contest begins next week on June 1st.
