Spencerville Mill recruiting volunteers ahead of Canoe Poker Run event

With just a few days left before the Spencerville Mill and Museum’s annual paddle across the South Nation River, staff members say they need more helpers.

Volunteers are being recruited for the mill’s Canoe Poker Run, a fundraiser that sees participants spend their morning kayaking and canoeing along the river towards the mill for a barbecue lunch.

People are needed to hand out playing cards to participants at check points along their canoeing route.

The cards are part of a game happening afterwards where the participant with the best poker hand will win a cash prize.

Volunteers will be given lunch for free, and high school students who help will be able to put the time they spend towards their community service hours.

You can find the contact details to sign up as a volunteer on the Spencerville Mill and Museum’s Facebook page.

The Canoe Poker Run is happening on Saturday, May 27th.
