North Grenville’s Kristin Strackerjan elected RVCA Board Chair

A local councillor is now the Chair of the Rideau Valley Conservation Authority’s (RVCA) Board of Directors.

Kristin Strackerjan was elected to the position at the organization’s first meeting since October’s municipal elections.

“My time on the RVCA board has been very interesting,” Strackerjan says, “and adding the responsibility of chair will allow me to be further engaged in other areas of discussion, such as at Conservation Ontario meetings.”

She says one of her top priorities is protecting local waterways as communities like North Grenville expand and develop.

“The conservation of land and ensuring that developments proceed with due consideration to science is more important than ever,” Strackerjan explains. “Protecting our watershed and our green areas is paramount.”

The organization’s Board of Directors is made up of appointees from its 18 member municipalities, plus someone appointed by the provincial government. Anne Robinson from the City of Ottawa was elected Vice Chair.
