Applications open for Ontario’s 2023 antlerless deer tag draw

Hunters making plans for this fall are being encouraged to sign up as soon as possible for the antlerless deer tag draw.

Ontario Fish and Wildlife says applications to join the draw are open from now until the end of June.

You’ll need to buy your deer hunting license for the year before you apply, and to specify which wildlife management unit (WMU) you want to hunt in.

An antlerless deer tag lets you harvest a deer with antlers smaller than three inches in the specified WMU, or a deer with larger antlers anywhere in Ontario during open season, except during controlled hunts.

You can apply online, over the phone, or in person anywhere you can get a hunting license, and at some ServiceOntario locations.

Once you’ve submitted your application, you’ll be able to check whether you were awarded a tag on August 1st, and print it off on the 15th.
