$28,000+ raised for Connect Youth at Coldest Night of the Year

A local charity supporting struggling Leeds-Grenville kids and teens has received a funding boost from a national event.

The Coldest Night of the Year, held every February across Canada to support charities benefiting people struggling with housing insecurity, brought in $28,516 and counting for Prescott’s Connect Youth on Saturday, February 25th.

The organization runs initiatives like an after school drop-in program and several apartments for youth that need housing all over the region.

122 people took part in the campaign, which saw them collecting donations before taking to the streets to raise awareness for homelessness in the area.

Last year’s Coldest Night of the Year raised more than $11,000, with 62 participants locally.

Staff members from Connect Youth are thanking everyone who walked and contributed money, and say donations are still being accepted until March 31st.

You can make a donation on the Coldest Night of the Year website.
