First North Grenville draft budget for 2023 released

The Municipality of North Grenville’s first draft budget of the year is proposing a nearly four percent increase in your tax rate.

The draft was presented to council Thursday evening, with a tax rate increase of 3.87 percent. The 2022 budget saw an increase of 0.74 percent.

The proposal has the 2023 operating budget set at $26,878,143, an increase of about a million dollars compared to last year.

Based on the presentation, the areas that need the most new money compared to 2022 are the municipality’s budget for “other costs,” like community grants and contributions to the North Grenville Public Library, and its allocation for paying staff salaries.
