NGPL: “Library Sue” stepping away from day-to-day work in 2023

A beloved local figure is preparing to hand over coordinating children’s programming at the North Grenville Public Library (NGPL) to someone new next year.

In a social media post, the library has announced that Sue Bergeron will be stepping away from day-to-day programming at the library in the New Year.

Known affectionately as “Library Sue” by many local kids, Bergeron has worked with the library for 22 years, and launched a number of initiatives to help build literacy skills and interest in reading in kids.

“[Bergeron] is a community treasure who has enriched the lives of many,” the post reads, “and we will miss having her bright smile – and resounding voice – around the library.”

According to staff members, Bergeron will continue to participate in the monthly “Bedtime Story Hour” for young kids at the library, as well as other special events in the future.
