Nancy Peckford unanimously named next Leeds-Grenville Warden

North Grenville’s Mayor has been named the Head of Council for the United Counties of Leeds and Grenville.

Nancy Peckford was appointed to the Warden position at Wednesday’s United Counties council meeting, after a unanimous vote.

“I give you my commitment today that I will bring my absolute best to the table as your Warden, and work to create the conditions for robust and respectful dialogue, deliberation, and decision making, that is always responsive and responsible to the people we were elected to serve,” Peckford said at her swearing-in ceremony.

New Wardens are elected every two years. Roger Haley, the Mayor of Front of Yonge and the outgoing Warden, said he has confidence in Peckford and her team’s ability to face the next two years.

“It’s definitely been an honour to serve as Warden these past two years, and it’s been a great learning experience,” Haley added.

As Warden, Peckford will represent the United Counties at official meetings, and sit on all the United Counties’ committees until the end of her term in 2024.
