“Spirit of Giving” donation drive brings in $2,600+ for Kemptville Salvation Army

Kemptville Salvation Army Pastor Calvin Wong says 97.5 Moose FM’s “Spirit of Giving” event was “very successful.”

“We raised about $2,600 in total, which was great, between the kettles and some of the other draws that were going on,” Wong says. “We brought in about 1,300 pounds of food, and at least 300 toys, so it was a very successful event, for sure.”

The donations collected at the fundraiser on Saturday are going towards the Salvation Army food bank. Wong says it feels “amazing” to see the community support the program.

“We were really pleased to see the turnout of community members coming through, as well,” Wong explains, “and, of course, all of the businesses that chipped in, the dignitaries, and, certainly, a huge thank-you to Canadian Tire [where the donation drive was held] for all of their work on that.”

If you weren’t able to attend but still want to contribute, Wong says volunteers are needed, and donations to the food bank are still being accepted at the Salvation Army’s office, or at the kettles at various local businesses.
