Deer season begins in Limerick Forest next week

If you’re planning to go out for a nature walk in Limerick Forest this month, United Counties of Leeds and Grenville staff say you should be careful.

According to a notice on the United Counties website, non-hunters are being encouraged to stay off the trails from November 7th to 20th, while deer hunting season is active.

The EarlyON program for parents and young children at the Limerick Forest Interpretive Centre will continue to run, staff say, because the area around it isn’t open to hunters.

Staff also recommend anyone visiting the forest, including hunters, wear high-visibility clothing, like fluorescent orange vests and hats, so hunters don’t mistake them for an animal.

You can read more about Limerick Forest, including maps of its trails and where you can and can’t hunt, on the United Counties of Leeds and Grenville’s website.
