North Grenville Historical Society: guest speaker discussing HMS Erebus, Terror this November

A researcher with the Canadian Museum of History will be giving a presentation about a famous maritime mystery in Kemptville in a few weeks.

The North Grenville Historical Society, a group of local history enthusiasts based out of Kemptville, is hosting a presentation by Dr. Matthew Betts, the museum’s Curator of Eastern Archaeology.

According to the Society’s website, Betts will be discussing the disappearance of Her Majesty’s Ship (HMS) Erebus and HMS Terror, two British ships that disappeared on a voyage through the Northwest Passage in 1845, before being discovered in Nunavut by Parks Canada in 2014 and 2016.

The presentation is happening November 9th. MyKemptvilleNow.com has reached out to the Canadian Museum of History to request an interview with Dr. Betts to learn more.
