North Grenville hosting “Curbside Giveaway Weekend” starting Saturday

If you’re looking to get rid of old furniture, decorations or other household items, North Grenville municipal staff say you’ll have a chance in a few days.

As part of Waste Reduction Week, an annual awareness campaign encouraging residents to live sustainably and be mindful about recycling, the Municipality is hosting a “Curbside Giveaway Weekend,” so unwanted items go to someone who can use them instead of being thrown out.

“Residents are invited to place items to be given away at the curb and marked ‘FREE,” says Corporate Media Relations Officer Jill Sturdy. “Residents are responsible for removing any unclaimed items left by dusk on Sunday [October 23rd].”

Mayor Nancy Peckford says she hopes North Grenville residents spend some time reflecting on how they can lower the amount of waste they produce.

“Whether you are at home, school, or work, think about how you can reduce, reuse or recycle,” she says. “All of us have an important role to play in reducing waste.”

If you’re interested in learning more about Waste Reduction Week, Sturdy says advice for residents will be posted to the Municipality’s social media pages over the next few days.

You’ll be able to leave any items for the Curbside Giveaway event outside starting Saturday, October 22nd.
