North Grenville Fire Service hosting open house for Fire Prevention Week

Community members are being invited to the fire station on County Road 44 for a public event being organized by firefighters next week.

As part of Fire Prevention Week, an annual campaign to raise awareness for fire safety practices, the North Grenville Fire Service is hosting an open house.

Fire Prevention Officer Shannon Armitage says a wide variety of demonstrations and other activities will be available for attendees to see.

“Come meet our firefighters, spray some water, use an extinguisher, we’re gonna have an extrication demonstration, we’re gonna have Sparky [a mascot for Fire Prevention Week], it’s gonna be wonderful.”

Armitage says people interested in coming to the open house will need to park a short distance away from the fire station.

“We are providing parking this year at the Municipal Centre,” she explains, “with a short walk down a little path, so we’re encouraging everyone to park at the Municipal Centre. There’ll be plenty of room there, and then come and enjoy the open house.”

The event is happening Wednesday, October 12th, starting at 6:00 PM.
