Three local baseball diamonds hosted the best 15-and-under (15U) ball teams in Ontario on the weekend.
The Seaway Surge, a Morrisburg-based club that was selected to host this year’s Baseball Ontario provincial championship, came in third place.
The Royal York Cardinals won the tournament in Kemptville on Sunday with a 9-8 defeat of the Whitby Canadians.
The local team won three of its first four games before being eliminated in the semi-finals by the Canadians 12-5.
Twelve teams from all across Ontario competed in the tournament, which was held over the Labour Day long weekend, at ball diamonds in Morrisburg, Kemptville and Winchester.
If your child is interested in competitive baseball, registration is open to try out for the Surge’s “rep” teams for next season. You can find registration information on the organization’s website.
