Nancy Peckford and Colleen Lynas talk long-term projects

In two MyKemptvilleNow.com exclusive interviews, the candidates for Mayor of North Grenville explained their thoughts on the community’s future.

Nancy Peckford, the incumbent candidate, cited the County Road 43 expansion as a long-term project she hoped to continue working on if re-elected.

“Things are going to get going on a bridge rebuild across County Road 43 and on road expansions in the next year,” she says. “So, it takes time for things to gear up for such a major rehabilitation of County Road 43, but certainly there was no doubt, given what the community was telling us, that that was a major priority, and it continues to be so.”

Meanwhile, Colleen Lynas says one of her main priorities, if elected, would be to reduce North Grenville’s reliance on external consulting companies, to keep initiatives and projects manageable.

“Moving forward strategically, and thinking beyond the next election cycle, into the next decade,” she says, “we need to be thinking of, ‘where are our top priorities?’ If we bite off more than we can chew, we may not, in fact, be doing justice to more key, more core projects and considerations that we should have for the municipality.”

Election Day is October 24th.
